Sheffield welcomes Japanese Volleyball team to try out city facilities

The Japanese Women's National Volleyball Team has been welcomed to Sheffield for a week long training camp at the beginning of June. Currently ranked fifth in the world, the team spent seven days in the city training at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield, alongside the GB Volleyball Team.
York to host The Gambia in run up to the Games

York was celebrating yesterday after officials put the finishing touches to an agreement that will see Gambia athletes use the city as a training base for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Jonathan Edwards CBE, Deputy Chair of the Nations and Regions Group, of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will meet South Yorkshire schoolchildren today (Thursday 27 May). He is visiting The Arches Games at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield, to see how they are inspired by London 2012. Jonathan was Olympic champion in Triple Jump at the Sydney 2000 Games and set the current world record for the event in 1995.
