Wingbeats

Culture

Wingbeats is a music-theatre project that explores the relationship between flying and the landscape, and the history of aviation in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

It will create two linked theatrical music pieces through exploring two sites in the East Riding with links to flight - Bempton Cliffs & Flamborough Head with its many birds, and Sewerby Hall in Bridlington with its Amy Johnson collection.

The project will be launched with a Flying Day at Sewerby Hall on Saturday 23 July 2011 which offers the chance to see new museum displays in the house as well as enjoy a range of activities linked to flying.

Artists, musicians and writers will be working with groups and schools in East Riding to produce performances of the two musical works Flight Paths in 2011 and Amy's Last Dive in 2012. Both pieces will be performed in a series of public performances at Bridlington Spa and the University of Leeds.
