A Night of Extraordinary Moves

18.06.11. Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield.

Huddersfield based Chol Theatre, working with Sheffield Hallam University sports scientists, has brought together an inclusive team of disabled and non-disabled artists, scientists and sports people to explore human movement, challenging perceptions of disability and celebrating physical and creative expression.

One strand of the Extraordinary Moves programme of events for imove, a new and imaginative celebration of human movement, bringing together the best creative talent from the region to produce a programme of events designed to inspire the public in the run up to London 2012 funded by Legacy Trust UK, Arts Council England and Yorkshire Forward; ‘A Night of Extraordinary Moves’ incorporates dance, research, performance and training.

‘A Night of Extraordinary Moves’ will be a celebration and culmination of this unusual creative exchange in the form of a one night only club-style event at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield on the 18th June 2011.  The event will include:

-              A repertoire performance by outstanding dance duo, Company Chameleon, and a chance for guests to make a brand new performance with them on the night.

-              Live performances from groups throughout Yorkshire inspired by the themes of 'Extraordinary Moves'-              The opportunity for the audience to 'Show us your Extraordinary Moves' by experimenting with motion-capture and high speed camera technology from Sheffield Hallam University Sport Science Department-              'The Extraordinary Pod', an inflatable touring stage, workshop and gallery
